Osteoporosis class
A small, supervised class for people with osteoporosis or osteopenia, or anyone who wants to protect their bones.

Who is this class for?
Osteoporosis doesn't mean you have to stop moving. Exercise is one of the best things you can do for your bones.
This class is for people living with osteoporosis or osteopenia, and for anyone who wants to protect their bone health as they get older.
What happens in the class
Each class combines evidence-based strength, balance and impact training to help build bone density, improve your posture and lower your risk of falls and fractures. It is run by one of our physiotherapists or exercise physiologists.
Every exercise is tailored to your level, so you can exercise with confidence, knowing it is safe and right for you. It's never the same old routine: we regularly refresh the exercises to keep things fun and adjust them as you progress, while always keeping the focus on building stronger bones.

Common questions
Is exercise safe if I have osteoporosis?
Yes, with the right exercises. Your class assessment checks what is safe for you, and the clinician adjusts any exercise that isn't right for your bones.
Can I join if I have osteopenia?
Yes. The class suits people with osteopenia, osteoporosis, or anyone who wants to look after their bone health as they age.
Do I need a bone density scan to join?
You don't need one to join. If you have had a scan, bring the results to your class assessment so we can plan your exercises.
What is impact training?
Small, controlled movements that put a safe amount of load through your bones, such as heel drops or stepping. We start gently and build up only when you are ready.
