Senior Health and Fitness
A small class for people aged 50 and over, with your own written exercise program.

Who is this class for?
Senior Health and Fitness is for people aged 50 and over who want to stay strong, steady and independent. It suits you whether you are new to exercise, getting back into it after an illness or injury, or living with arthritis or another long-term condition.
What happens in the class
Everyone in the class has their own written exercise program, built around your goals and any injuries or conditions. You work through it in a small group, with a physiotherapist or exercise physiologist watching your technique.
Your program covers what you need most, such as strength, balance, muscle weakness, flexibility and pain. The clinician progresses or adjusts it each time you come, depending on how you feel on the day.

Common questions
I haven't exercised in years. Is this class for me?
Yes. Your program starts where you are now and builds up slowly. Many people in this class had not exercised for a long time before they joined.
Can I come if I have arthritis or a joint replacement?
Yes. Tell us about it at your class assessment and we will build your program around it. Exercise is one of the best things you can do for arthritis.
How often should I come?
Most people come once or twice a week. Twice a week gives you the best results for strength and balance.
