Dance and gymnastics physiotherapy
Physiotherapy for dancers, gymnasts and cheerleaders, from people who know the sport.

Why dancers and gymnasts need a different approach
Dance and gymnastics are unique sports. They need a huge range of flexibility and strength, and a lot of control to perform skills beautifully and safely.
That means injuries in dancers and gymnasts often need a different approach from the same injury in someone else, and exercises that are specific to the sport.
Physiotherapists who know the sport
Our director, Jaquie, competed in gymnastics, cheerleading and dance before becoming a physiotherapist. Having performed at a high level herself, she understands what these sports ask of your body, and how much you want to keep training.
Jaquie also trains our clinicians in how to assess and treat dancers and gymnasts, so whoever you see understands the demands of your sport.
Our physiotherapists will:
- find the cause of your pain or injury, not just treat the spot that hurts
- keep you training where it is safe, with changes to your training while you recover
- give you exercises that are specific to dance and gymnastics
- build injury prevention into your training, so the same problem doesn't keep coming back
Problems we often help with
- ankle and foot pain, including sprains
- hip and knee pain
- low back pain
- wrist pain
- overuse injuries from repeated training
- getting back to full training after an injury

Common questions
Will I have to stop training?
Not always. Where it is safe, we change your training so you can keep going while you recover, rather than stopping completely.
Can you help prevent injuries?
Yes. We can check how you move and give you strength and control exercises to lower your risk of injury.
Do you work with cheerleaders too?
Yes. Cheerleading puts similar demands on the body, and Jaquie has competed in it herself.
