Massage for you and your bump

When your body is focused on your baby, it is good to have someone focus on you. Pregnancy massage is gentle and tailored to how far along you are and how you feel on the day.

Our special pregnancy pillows let you lie on your stomach with room for your bump. If you prefer, you can lie on your side with pillows for support.

What it may help with

  • aches in the lower back, hips and buttocks
  • tight neck, shoulders and upper back
  • tired, heavy legs and mild swelling in the feet and ankles
  • relaxing and resting more comfortably

Why we start from the second trimester

We offer pregnancy massage from the second trimester (from 13 weeks) until your baby arrives. We don't book massage in the first 12 weeks, and that isn't because massage is dangerous.

The first trimester is a time of big change. Your baby is developing quickly, and many women feel tired, sick or light-headed, which can make an hour on a massage table hard to enjoy. Many massage therapists take the same gentle, careful approach in early pregnancy. We would rather wait until you are feeling more settled and can really relax.

Let us know how many weeks you are when you book.

Before you book

Please check with your doctor or midwife first if you have a high-risk pregnancy, a history of miscarriage, a blood clot, bleeding, severe morning sickness or sudden swelling.

Pain that massage isn't helping?

If you have pain in your pelvis, back or ribs that isn't settling, our physiotherapists can help. See pregnancy care.
