Hot stone massage
Smooth, warm stones and therapeutic pressure to ease tight muscles in a slow, relaxing massage.

What is hot stone massage?
Smooth, flat stones are warmed in water and used in two ways. Some are placed on your body to warm and soften the muscles. Others are held in your therapist's hands and used to massage you.
The warmth helps many people relax and lets the therapist work into tight muscles more comfortably. It combines the calm of a relaxation massage with the therapeutic pressure of a remedial massage.
Why people choose hot stones
- to relax deeply
- to ease tight, stiff muscles
- for a warm, comforting change from a standard massage
Is it safe?
Your therapist checks the temperature of every stone before it touches your skin, and you can ask for a stone to be moved at any time.
Hot stones may not suit you if you are pregnant, have diabetes or reduced feeling in your skin, high blood pressure, a skin condition or sunburn, or take blood thinners. Your therapist will check and, if needed, suggest a massage without stones.

Common questions
Will the stones be too hot?
No. The stones are warm, not hot, and your therapist tests each one first. If a stone feels too warm, say so and it will be moved straight away.
Is hot stone massage relaxing or remedial?
Both. The warmth is very relaxing, and your therapist can still use firm, targeted pressure on tight areas.
Can I have hot stones while pregnant?
We don't recommend hot stones during pregnancy. A pregnancy massage is a gentle alternative.
Can I claim it on my health fund?
Hot stones are added to a remedial massage, which most funds cover on extras cover. Your rebate depends on your fund and level of cover.
